It all started for me, Aleksya, when I had a defining moment during a biology assignment that didn’t go as planned in 9th grade. After receiving a disappointing grade, I decided not to let it get me down. Instead of dwelling on the grade, I wrote to my teacher to understand where I’d gone wrong. His kind response opened the door to a valuable lesson—and a wonderful opportunity.

When we met, I had prepared some questions, but I also brought homemade cookies made using my grandmother’s secret recipe. My teacher’s enthusiastic reaction to these sweet treats was the turning point: I realized I could turn my passion for baking into a real business.

To wrap up this story on a sweet note, I should mention that in the end, I earned a final grade of 94% in biology. A sweet victory that speaks to the power of resilience and perseverance.

My name is Anne Lys, and my passion for baking stems from my childhood memories, shaped by my mother, a true culinary expert who always brought a touch of magic to the kitchen. She ran a catering business that was well-known in our community, and every event was an opportunity to discover her delicious creations. I grew up watching her prepare cakes and cookies with extraordinary care, and I quickly realized that this passion was contagious.

I remember the afternoons I spent with her, mixing ingredients and letting our creativity run wild. Of all her recipes, my favorites were undoubtedly her chocolate chip cookies. I made them not only for my friends, but also for my mother’s coworkers, who eagerly awaited each new batch.

Every piece of positive feedback I received motivated me to innovate and refine my recipes. It was a real pleasure to see the smiles on the faces of those who tasted my creations.

A Culinary Collaboration

Our history

What can I say about our story, other than that we’ve been best friends for almost our entire lives—that is, since we were two years old! We’ve grown close to one another, forming an unbreakable bond that has stood the test of time. It was with surprise and wonder that we discovered, at the age of two—when we were already friends—that our mothers had also shared a friendship, having attended high school together in Haiti before losing touch. This beautiful reunion brought our two families together into one big family!

One day, while chatting, we realized we had a golden opportunity: to combine our talents by bringing together chocolate chip cookies and shortbread!

So we completed the training offered by MAPAQ to ensure that our practices comply with the standards.
